Jung Duk Hyun Culture Critic

Keynote speech

Jeong is a pop culture critic and columnist.

He has focused on analyzing realities embodied within works of pop culture including pop music. In addition to serving as viewer evaluator at MBC, he has also been on the JTBC viewer committee. He is a member of the jury panel for the Baeksang Arts Awards. Through broadcasts and lectures, Jeong has spoken about the social significance and value of pop culture. Guided by the keyword of ‘empathy’, he has strived to understand and communicate with the world.

He is the author of the following books: Each Day was Brilliant, Sometimes, You’re Floored by Memorable Lines from a TV Show, and Serious as Documentary, Exciting as Entertainment.

Kyogu Lee CEO & Co-founder of Supertone

Keynote speech

Kyogu Lee graduated with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University, and furthered his studies with a master's degree in Music Technology from New York University. He also holds a master's in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Music and Acoustics from Stanford University. After his stint as a senior researcher at Gracenote's Media Technology Lab in the United States, Lee joined Seoul National University as a professor, where he served as vice dean of the Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology and head of the Department of Intelligence Information Convergence.

He is currently the director of Applied Technology Research at the AI Institute, leading the Music and Audio Research Group (MARG) in integrating machine learning with audio signal processing for voice and music applications.

In March 2020, Lee founded Supertone and developed innovative AI audio solutions for creators. He has launched products like 'Supertone Shift,' a real-time voice conversion tool, and 'Supertone Play,' a text-to-speech tool, as well as 'Supertone Clear,' a noise reduction plugin, earning a feature in the 'World Leaders' series by Music Business Worldwide.

2009년 : Joined the Global Business Division at Nexon - Worked on global projects in North America and Southeast Asia, developing publishing strategies customized to local market needs and various partners in the course of launching new games and live services

2014년 ~ current : Employed at Riot Games - In charge of marketing of key Riot Games titles including League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and Wild Rift in the Korean market - Oversaw cooperation with Korean artists and digital music marketing in connection to the virtual group project ‘K/DA’ that debuted during the 2018 League of Legends World Championship held in Korea. Kim has also led efforts in contacting and liaising with K-pop artists as well as collaboration and marketing duties for digital music production in connection to subsequently launched virtual groups such as TRUE DAMAGE (2019) and HEARTSTEEL (2023), thus contributing to broadening the reach of game IPs through diverse collaborations that incorporate K-pop.

Emilio Molina BMAT Head of R&D

Presentation

Emilio Molina is the Head of R&D at BMAT, where he leads the research efforts in various relevant topics for the music industry involving artificial intelligence, like music monitoring (both exact audio and covers), music/non-music audio classification, and music metadata matching. During the last few years, his team has released several audio & metadata-matching technologies that are now used in the music industry worldwide through BMAT services and products. His team is also involved in several academic collaborations with top-level institutions, like the Music Technology Group in Barcelona, leading to the continuous improvement of the state-of-the-art in a variety of fields. He holds a PhD in Music Information Retrieval from the University of Málaga (Spain), a master's in Sound and Music Technologies from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, and professional studies in classical piano from the Conservatori of Liceu in Barcelona.

Mr. Yong Min Lee, attorney at law, graduated from the Korea University School of Law with an LL.B. degree and an LL.M. degree in Intellectual Property Law. He also completed Entertainment, Media and IP Law Specialized LL.M. Program in the UCLA School of Law. After completing the 37th course at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, in 2011, he joined Yulchon LLC where he is currently a partner lawyer / patent attorney specializing in the convergent field of IP & Technology.

Mr. Lee has worked on high-profile IP disputes such as Samsung Electronics' suit against Apple and has provided counsel to various notable companies including entertainment firms such as JYP Entertainment and SM Entertainment as well as content providers such as Meta, JTBC, Warner Bros., Discovery, Kakao Entertainment, Waave, and KT Studio Genie. He has also advised the Korea Music Content Association, Korea Music Copyright Association, Federation of Korean Music Performers, Beyond Music, and MAPIACOMPANY on legal issues pertaining to the music industry. Recently, Mr. Lee successfully represented composer / pianist Yiruma, securing all backlogged payments for the artist. He also participated in drawing up the 'Guide on Generative AI and Copyright' published by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korea Copyright Commission. Additionally, he advised numerous businesses on a wide range of AI-related issues such as copyright and personal information while also giving lectures at the Korea Bar Association, Korean Intellectual Property Office, and the Korea Association of Game Industry.
